hybrid houses

More than two-dozen residential commissions incorporate both Modern and traditional spatial organizations, details, and landscape relationships, blending the two different approaches to design within the same buildings, such as the
Bettie S. and Robert S. Chandgie Residence (1958), the James Bruce Residence (1959), and the Eden and Lawrence Cohen Residence (1955). These hybrid houses demonstrate the ability of the Loewenstein firm to weave together aesthetic principles of design leaning to either idiom, with often interesting results.
